Sr. Pastor at First baptistDave Grotzke, Senior Pastor

Pastor Dave Grotzke has been the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church since 1990. He received his bachelor’s degree with a major in Bible and a minor in math and science from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served as the assistant pastor, and then as the senior pastor at Bryant Avenue Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for fifteen years. Pastor Grotzke and his wife, Cindy, have been active in teaching, counseling, showing hospitality, and many other responsibilities within the local church, and they have visited many of the church’s missionaries. They have been active in the community, and they have also been speakers at many events. Pastor and Mrs. Grotzke are the parents of five married children who are all active serving in various leadership positions in their local churches. The Grotzkes have ten grandchildren. Pastor Grotzke’s preaching is applicable in building spiritually sound people and strong families. His desire is to see people seek God’s will and the spread the Gospel to others.

 

Wayne Assistant PastorWAYNE ERICKSON, ASSISTANT PASTOR

Wayne Erickson came to First Baptist Church in 2005 to serve in the capacity of assistant pastor. Wayne married his wife Margie in 1976, they have six grown children, five boys and one girl, and fifteen grandchildren. All six of their children attended and graduated form Lake Region Christian School. Two of their sons are serving as fulltime pastors in the Brainerd/Baxter area. For a time the Ericksons were foster parents in Crow Wing County, having cared for twenty-four children over the span of nine years. Wayne and Margie owned and operated their own restaurant for twenty-plus years before going in to full-time ministry. Wayne attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, taken classes in Bible doctrine studies from Liberty University, and Biblical counseling training in Lafayette, Indiana. Wayne’s ministries here at First Baptist include teaching Sunday school, leading Wednesday night Kid’s Bible Club, and showing hospitality. He also serves as a Lake Region Christian School advisor, oversees the building and grounds, and serves on a number of boards.

 

Pete youth pastorPETE ERICKSON, YOUTH PASTOR

Pastor Pete Erickson has been the youth pastor at First Baptist Church since 2005. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with a major in history education and a minor in physical education from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. He began teaching at Lake Region Christian School in 2005. He then took the position as youth pastor during the following summer of 2005. Pastor Pete has been active in the community speaking and serving in various capacities. Pastor Pete and his wife Amy have been active in teaching Sunday school, junior church, AWANA, nursery, and various other responsibilities within the local church. They are the parents of four wonderful children. Amy taught kindergarten at Lake Region Christian School for nine years before staying home with their children. Pastor Pete’s preaching and teaching to the youth is both applicable and easy to understand, as well as relevant to what is going on in society and their personal lives. His desire is to influence youth to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with Christ.

 

Steve School PrincipalSTEVE OGREN, Principal LRCS

Steve Ogren has served as the principal of Lake Region Christian School since the fall of 2007. He and his wife Tatum are both graduates of Lake Region Christian School, and they now enjoy having their three children walk the same halls that they once did. Steve received his Bachelor’s Degree in secondary science education from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, and he is now working on his Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Faith Seminary in Lafayette, Indiana. Steve and Tatum have both been members of First Baptist since the early 1980s. Both enjoy teaching Sunday school and serving wherever they are needed.
